Welcome
A very warm welcome to Burston Primary School
Burston Primary is a small rural school nestled in the historic village of Burston, near Diss. Our unique setting provides a rich and inspiring environment for learning, and visitors often comment on the warm, welcoming ethos that defines our school. We are incredibly proud of our community, and we hope you will feel proud to be part of it too.
At Burston, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. Every pupil, member of staff and parent is valued, and everyone is encouraged to contribute to the life and work of the school. Learning drives all that we do, and we are committed to promoting achievement for all. Our school motto is 'Burston children make their MARK' – being Motivated, Ambitious, Resilient and Kind.
We believe in getting it right for every child. Children’s rights and wellbeing are central to our approach, and we place a strong emphasis on nurture. When children feel safe, happy and included, they flourish academically, socially and emotionally. Our nurturing ethos supports wellbeing, behaviour, attainment and wider achievement, helping every child to thrive.
We encourage our learners to be independent thinkers, reflective learners and responsible citizens. Every decision we make is guided by what is best for our children. We aim to provide learning that is relevant, engaging and exciting, within a safe environment where all children are encouraged to be the very best they can be.
Our curriculum is creative, balanced and child‑centred, enabling staff to meet the needs of all learners. Learning is often experiential, cross‑curricular and connected to real‑life contexts, giving children a strong sense of purpose and enjoyment.
We value the partnership between school and home and believe that the most effective education happens when we work together. We actively engage parents and carers as partners in learning and build positive relationships with our wider community. Throughout the year, families are invited to take part in a range of events and opportunities to connect with staff and school life.
If you have any questions — big or small — please get in touch. We look forward to welcoming you and working together to ensure the very best for your child.
